Frequently Asked Questions

What does AMA do?

AMA provides students with hands-on marketing experience, professional development opportunities, and networking events. We host speaker panels, skill-building workshops, marketing case competitions, community service opportunities, volunteering, and social events to help members grow both professionally and personally.

How can I join AMA?

Joining AMA is simple and open to all students, regardless of major or year. To become a member, fill out our interest form (linked on our website and Instagram) and pay the semester dues. New members are welcomed at the start of each semester, and there is no application or interview required. Once you join, you'll gain access to all of our events, resources, and opportunities for professional growth through both our chapter and the national AMA network.

Do I need experience to join?

Not at all! You don’t need any marketing experience to join AMA. A lot of our members are learning as they go, and that’s the point. We’re here to help you grow. Whether you’re just curious about marketing or already have a few projects under your belt, AMA is a supportive place to learn, try new things, and build confidence.

What is the weekly time commitment?

On average, members spend about 1–2 hours per week at meetings, events, or committee work. We know students are busy, so most things are optional and designed to fit around your schedule. If you take on a leadership or committee role, it may be a bit more, but everything is manageable, even with a full course load or job.

Are there leadership opportunities?

Yes! AMA offers both committee and executive board roles. Committee involvement is a great way to start, and open at the beginning of the school year, and executive board applications open at the end of each school year. Taking on a leadership position is a great way to build your resume, develop new skills, and leave your mark on the organization.
